Lorsque Jean-Michel Basquiat s’éteint le 12 août 1988, à l’âge de vingt-sept ans, son corps est confié au médecin légiste Scott Wilson.
Autour de la table d’autopsie, les internes observent en silence. Scott Wilson se tourne alors vers eux et murmure : « Je vais vous expliquer pourquoi j’ai acheté ses chefs-d’œuvre dès le début. »
